MUCH-changed Wyke Wanderers took advantage of their closest rivals not having a fixture to go one point clear at the top of West Yorkshire League Division One with a 4-2 win at Leeds Modernians.
Wanderers, missing regulars due to injuries or unavailabilities, took an early lead when Matt Conway latched on to a Joe Walshe throw-in to run clear and convert.
Shortly after, Wyke increased their lead when Conway netted a good finish from inside the penalty area.
Mods were then thwarted by goalkeeper Hayden Fox and defender Chris Davis, and Wanderers then made it 3-0 after a Martyn Hall cross enabled Liam Hartley to score his first goal for the club on the stroke of half-time.
Man of the match Conway completed his hat-trick with a clinical finish, but Mods pulled two goals back to make it a nervous last 15 minutes for Wyke, who held out.
Baildon Trinity Athletic came away from Old Centralians with a point in Division Two after a 1-1 draw, but the game was overshadowed by Baildon's changing room being robbed while the players were warming up.
Despite that shock, Baildon started well and came close to open the scoring, but had to wait until Ashley Cooper headed in from a long throw.
With five minutes remaining, however, Centralians grabbed an equaliser, but it was still a deserved point for the tenth-placed visitors, all things considered.
Field Reserves dropped their first point of the season after a 2-2 draw at Shelley Reserves in a top-of-the-table Alliance Division One clash.
After a goalless first half, Shelley took the lead through a penalty when Field's Calum Robinson was ajudged to have handled.
A scuffle following a corner then resulted in Robinson receiving a red card for pushing an opponent.
Field made changes to the shape of their team and were rewarded when Christian Robinson equalised, and a great through ball was then converted by Lewis Forsythe to put Field 2-1 in front.
With the clock ticking away, however, Shelley grabbed an equaliser in injury time.
In trying to stop the goal, Field goalkeeper Conor Murphy suffered a nasty cut to his eyebrow and was taken to hospital.
Field manager Matt Vickers said: "It was a fair result, and both teams will both be competing for the title until the end of the season.
"It was the best game I've seen for a very long time."
In Alliance Division Two, Alex Hornby and Hoi-Pin Truong were on target for Wyke Wanderers Reserves but they couldn't prevent Altofts Reserves winning 3-2.
