STUART McCall reckons City have the financial muscle to beef up in January as he now prepares to focus on football again.
The Bantams boss admitted he was "slightly frustrated" not to add more than former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Lukas Raeder to his squad on deadline day.
There were a couple of other deals that he had hoped would come off but fell short.
Yet with City to receive around £500,000 from Nahki Wells' move from Huddersfield to Burnley, McCall believes they are already well placed for the mid-season transfer window.
He said: "It's no secret that the club have banked a lot of money over the last four months. That's the good thing.
"We should be in a really strong position come January, if we're in the top half and up and around it, to go out and reinforce the squad."
Free agent Raeder has joined until the New Year and will go straight into the squad to face Bristol Rovers today, providing his international clearance has gone through.
McCall confirmed that City also had a bid for a target knocked back as well as another loan move for a midfielder. The Telegraph & Argus understands that was for Fredrik Ulvestad of Burnley.
They were also pipped by Rotherham after a late enquiry about Brighton midfielder Richie Towell.
McCall would not reveal the identity of the player that City attempted to sign but he has been a long-time admirer of Ali Crawford at Hamilton.
"I wasn't over-disappointed with deadline day but slightly frustrated that we didn't get another one in," said the Bantams boss.
"We had a bid for a player I've wanted rejected by the club. In their eyes, it didn't meet the valuation of the player.
"We had another deal for a loan player that just became too expensive as it went on.
"Then we got a call about 9.30pm about Richie Towell but Rotherham got in before us.
"But we've got the squad now. Think back to what we were saying a couple of weeks ago and we've got the right-back cover in and a centre half.
"We were probably trying to just get another one to add just in case. That was slightly frustrating it didn't come off but nothing more.
"But you know me, I always just want to focus on the football. We've been chasing a centre half for what feels like forever and have sorted that now, so we can concentrate on what we want to.
"We've got four months now (before the next window) and just have to be fortunate we don't have a spate of injuries. But I'm happy with what we've got."
There is the option of the free-agent market in the meantime but McCall has no specific target in mind.
He said: "There's nothing out there that I think we desperately need. But obviously if a name came up that did interest us, it's something we'd look at."
McCall has been handed a boost by the return of Adam Chicksen after his fractured cheekbone.
The left back trained fully for the first time on Thursday, wearing a protective mask, and could well be named in the 18 today.
McCall said: "Adam has done fine. The lads didn't want to go anywhere near him at first and were pulling out of tackles but he was happy with that contact."
