MILLWALL match-winner Steve Morison insists the pitch invaders should "hang their heads in shame".
Morison missed some of the celebrations after his side had beaten City in the League One play-off final because he was called in for a routine drug test.
Yet he is still fuming about the fans who spoiled the occasion by charging on to the Wembley pitch after the final whistle.
"I've never been so high or so low in such a short period of time – but I don't want the headlines to be about them," he said.
"It should be about us and those people who have ruined it for everybody else should hang their heads in shame.
"But it is what it is, you can't stop people doing stupid things. All that matters is we've won the game and we know where we will be playing our football next season."
Millwall had much less possession than City but Morison said that was a deliberate tactic and he was never concerned.
He said: "Everyone tries to write people off. It's fantastic, the boys were great.
"From the outside it might have looked like we were right up against it but we knew what we were doing out there.
"We've been doing it all season – we let people have the ball and we're not worried about that.
"Like the FA Cup games, we let them have the ball and got the goal when it mattered.
"Our midfield and defence held firm and the goalkeeper made a fantastic save in the first half.
"We had a chance and took it, they had one more at the end and didn't."
Morison is now relishing a return to the Championship but admits the Lions will face a sizeable job to survive.
The former Leeds striker said: "It's going to be a massive task. I'd take fourth from bottom right now.
"We'll work very hard after the summer and it'll be nice to see how some of these lads cope next year in the Championship. They're going to have to develop even more.
"There are some massive teams – Sunderland, (Aston) Villa, Leeds. Every team is huge, even Sheffield United and Bolton who went up.
"Arguably the biggest teams in League One have gone up this season."
