HOW the day unfolded as City took on Millwall in the League One play-off final at Wembley...
7am: Bantams coaches leave Valley Parade, with the first arriving at an overcast Wembley around four-and-a-half hours later. One bus-load of 53 City supporters' journey is less straightforward, though, after they are forced to wait for a replacement, having broken down close to Sheffield.
Noon: Good luck messages start to flood into the T&A inbox, including this one from Merseyside: "Wishing Bradford City and their supporters all the best today at Wembley. You deserve to be in the Championship – You'll Never Walk Alone! From all of us here at the 23 Foundation, Jamie Carragher's Charity."
12.15pm: Wembley Way begins to fill up with fans of both clubs, although sales of half-and-half scarves are slow! Among those spotted include past City favourites Peter Jackson, Greg Abbott and Guy Branston.
2pm: The teams are announced, with Stuart McCall naming an unchanged side from that which prevailed over Fleetwood in the semi-final second leg. The biggest news is that Alex Jones is fit again but only makes the bench. Millwall also stick with the same starting XI that overcame Scunthorpe in their decisive semi-final clash.
2.11pm: A big roar greets McCall's men as they enter the stadium for the pre-match warm-up, closely followed by an equally loud reception for the manager himself.
2.32pm: Millwall announcer Deano Standing gets drowned out on the pitch by the City fans with a chorus of "Stuart McCall's Bradford army" booming out, closely followed by a chant of "We've got Cullen, Joshua Cullen".
2.34pm: Bradford Bulls send their best wishes with the following Tweet: A huge good luck to @officialbantams taking on @MillwallFC at Wembley shortly! You can do this Bantams! #BradfordAndProud.
2.53pm: The teams line up to meet dignitaries, including Football League chairman Ian Lenagan, following a spectacular firework reception. Skipper Romain Vincelot leads the introductions.
2.56pm: National anthem sung by Faryl Smith and upstanding supporters of both clubs.
2.58pm: Roar of "C'mon City" reverberates around the stadium from Bantams fans, who might be outnumbered by 4,000 but are just as loud as their south London counterparts.
3.01pm: Millwall kick off and attack the City end.
3.03pm: First chorus of "No-one Likes us, We Don't Care" from Lions supporters.
3.06pm: Mark Marshall is a bit fortunate to escape punishment after an apparent stamp on Millwall midfielder Nadjim Abdou.
3.07pm: The game's first goal attempt sees Tony McMahon's edge-of-the-box half-volley bounce wide.
3.11pm: An inswinging corner by Shaun Williams is met by Shaun Hutchinson in the air but deflects over off a Bradford head after Rory McArdle had taken a risk lunging and not getting the ball as Lee Gregory made inroads into the penalty box.
3.12pm: Former Leeds striker Steve Morison heads wide from a third flag kick in quick succession.
3.14pm: Marshall sends Billy Clarke sprinting clear through the middle of the pitch on counter-attack but exposed Millwall keeper Jordan Archer pushes the midfielder's 15-yard chipped attempt around his left-hand upright.
3.16pm: James Meredith forces a near-post parry from Archer with an angled drive.
3.25pm: Abdou hacks down Clarke on edge of the box. Firm McMahon free-kick is headed away.
3.31pm: McArdle meets McMahon left-wing corner to far post but his header is routinely caught by Archer.
3.33pm: From the next flag kick, McMahon pokes another effort wide after initial shot is blocked.
3.41pm: DJ Jazzie B, of Soul II Soul fame, stands up to take the applause of supporters after being spotted in the crowd by TV cameras and appearing on the big screen. He is the father of Millwall player Mahlon Romeo.
3.43pm: A first chance of the game for Charlie Wyke sees him flick a header across the face of Millwall's goal following a right-wing free kick from McMahon.
3.46pm: After one minute of added-on time, the half-time whistle blows at the end of a strong half from City, who have kept highly-rated Millwall front two Morison and Gregory quiet, while causing their own problems at the other end of the pitch.
4.03pm: Game restarts with a City kick-off.
4.08pm: Meredith sees first shot of second period blocked in a congested 18-yard area.
4.09pm: Marshall also suffers the same fate after cutting in from the left.
4.10pm: Ball sits up for Morison 20 yards from goal but he drags wide of Colin Doyle's goal.
4.13pm: Rousing call of "Stand up if you love City" gets desired response from 24,000 loud and proud Bantams.
4.14pm: A cross by Meredith is caught under his own crossbar by Archer.
4.14pm: The 56th minute heralds an emotional round of applause for those who perished in the Valley Parade fire disaster. Millwall fans join in the tribute too.
4.15pm: Aiden O'Brien is first player into referee Simon Hooper's book after tripping Marshall.
4.16pm: A stretching McArdle heads over from six yards following McMahon's subsequent free-kick.
4.17pm: Morison blasts wildly over but is then flagged offside.
4.19pm: Gregory plays Jed Wallace through clear on goal but he shoots early from the edge of the box and fires wide with only Doyle to beat.
4.23pm: McArdle rises to meet another right-wing dead-ball delivery from McMahon but his header finishes too high again.
4.28pm: Lions boss Neil Harris makes the first change on 70 minutes when the booked O'Brien ends a frustrating afternoon by making way for Shane Ferguson.
4.32pm: McCall rolls the dice with a double substitution of his own as Jones comes on for Clarke and Nicky Law is replaced by Timothee Dieng. Both Clarke and Law had put in good shifts.
4.34pm: Meredith gets booked for crudely halting Wallace's run down the right touchline.
4.37pm: Good last-ditch work by McArdle spares Vincelot's blushes after he gave the ball away in City's defensive third.
4.38pm: Wallace looping header sails over from close to penalty spot.
4.39pm: Attendance of 53,320 is announced.
4.39pm: McMahon centre headed wide by Meredith from ten yards.
4.43pm: Late agony for City as Williams' cross from left is headed towards goal by a diving Gregory and Morison escapes Nathaniel Knight-Percival's attentions to guide the ball into the roof of the net from three yards with Millwall's second on-target effort. 1-0 to Millwall on 85 minutes.
4.46pm: Cullen slices well over from 25 yards after a cleared corner.
4.46pm: Millwall bring on Fred Onyedinma for Wallace.
4.47pm: The Lions fans find their voice with familiar club anthem.
4.48pm: Gregory takes his time to leave the pitch as Calum Butcher is the south Londoners' final sub.
4.48pm: Announcement that there will be a minimum of five added-on minutes heralds loud shouts of encouragement from City hoards.
4.51pm: Onyedinma does a good job of running clock down, carrying ball down flank and committing and attracting stoppage-time fouls.
4.53pm: McMahon blasts chance high into sidenetting from an acute angle.
4.53pm: Following five minutes of constant whistling from the Millwall end, referee Hooper blows the one that matters and unlucky City will carry on plying their trade in League One next season. Celebrating fans invade the pitch and are booed by their Bantams counterparts, who then clap their own crestfallen players.
