Thackley have lost two of their most influential players from last season but manager John Boyle has been able to name a new coach at Dennyfield to help the development of the first team.

Former England youth international defender James Riley and skipper Craig Sugden have both moved on.

Vastly experienced coach Sean Regan has come in to work with the players at the club.

"Sean has been at Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday over the last few years working with their Academies," said Thackley boss Boyle.

"He is currently working on gaining his A licence and to do that he has to work with an open-age side. We are very fortunate to get him. The circumstances are right and he brings a lot to the club.

"Sean has just recently been on a coaching course alongside the likes of Roy Keane, Gareth Southgate and Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton.

"Added to the background he has of coaching youth teams at Football League clubs, he brings a wealth of experience.

"He did actually play here - 18 years back he had a season with our reserves. He is a local lad and obviously a great addition to our staff.

"James and Suggy' leave with our best wishes and, though it will be a huge loss, with people of the calibre of Sean coming in there are a lot positives and the club is really buzzing with excitement about the new season."

Boyle pays tribute to his defensive pairing of Riley and Sugden in Saturday's non-league page.
