FIELD slipped to fourth in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division after their 1-0 defeat against Shelley.
Chances were minimal for both teams but it was Shelley who took the lead after 25 minutes when Field's goalkeeper spilled the ball for a tap in.
In the second half, both teams worked hard in the hot conditions but neither side could score any further goals.
Field's assistant manager Barry Dunne said: “Both sides fielded depleted teams but both played some good football."
Wyke Wanderers lost their Heavy Woollen & District FA Wheatley Cup semi-final 3-1 against Littletown at Liversedge FC in midweek.
Wanderers started well and could have gone ahead from a fierce shot by Matt Conway, and then Sibu Moyo had a good chance.
In the second half, Littletown came more into the game, and a mistake in the Wyke defence led them to taking the lead.
Wanderers levelled through Karl Fawcett's deflected shot but Littletown restored their lead.
Wyke's Nick Emmett went on a mazy run but had his shot saved, but any hopes of a Wyke comeback were dashed when Littletown scored a third goal to cement their place in the final.
At the weekend, Wyke Wanderers lost 2-1 against Howden Clough in Division One.
Wyke struggled to get to grips with the uneven surface, and had injuries from their Wheatley Cup defeat.
Clough went in front and worse was to come when Wanderers failed to deal with a direct ball to go two goals down.
Wanderers then took hold of the game, but overplayed at times.
Conway caused concern in the Clough box but couldn't get the break.
A fine header from Fawcett reduced the arrears but Wyke couldn't get the equaliser.
There were average performances across the team but Ash Churchill's second-half display for Wyke was the highlight of the match.
In Alliance Division One, fourth-placed Field Reserves came away from third-placed Leeds City Reserves with a 2-1 win, Glyn Hirst getting both goals for Field.
Wyke Wanderers Reserves remain rooted to the bottom following their 1-0 loss at home to Leeds Modernians Reserves.
Wyke played some relaxed football, with Hoi Pin Truong's pace causing problems.
It was 0-0 at half-time, with Wanderers enjoyed some good possession on a bumpy pitch, but it was Mods who took the lead with a shot from the edge of the box.
Wyke goalkeeper Alex Whitson-Smith pulled off several good saves, and once again they rallied and should have equalised at the end when Joe Sagar found himself a yard out from goal but shot wide.
Wyke secretary Dave Ryan said: “There were some good performances from our team, with the pick being Andy Pearson in defence, along with James Butterworth.
"The return of Joe Entwhistle after being injured since last October, was also good to see”.
Wyke Wanderers entertain Leeds Modernians on Wednesday in Division One (6.30), and Field host Pool on the same night in the Premier Division (7.30).
