Tom Usher is the sole remaining Bradford-based player in tomorrow morning's quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Amateur Championship at Moortown.

The Baildon member was due to face England player Steve Uzzell, from Hornsea, following 4&3 victories over host club member Nigel Sweet, who won the qualifying competition, and Howley Hall's Lee Maguire.

Bradford's Sam Jewell and Bradford Moor's James Firth both made it to the last 16 before losing to Dale Smith (Saltburn-by-the Sea) 7&6 and David McCarthy (Moortown), one hole, respectively.

Jewell defeated Tom Johnson (Hillsborough) 7&6 and Firth beat Chris Ramsey (Selby) in the last 32.

In that round, Baildon's Dan Thomas lost to Steve Brennan (Wheatley) on the third extra hole, while Northcliffe's Rob Hillas lost to Dale Smith by one hole.

Defending champion Gareth Evans, also from Northcliffe, failed to qualify for the matchplay stages.
