Leeds United have confirmed that talks are ongoing with Preston over a move to Deepdale for former Elland Road captain Kevin Nicholls.
Manager Dennis Wise stripped Nicholls of the captaincy in March after the midfielder revealed he wanted to rejoin Luton. That move never materialised but Nicholls hasn't played for the first team since.
When Leeds come out of administration, Nicholls is expected to complete his move to Preston, with young defender Kelvin Wilson joining Leeds as a makeweight in the £400,000 deal.
Nicholls, 28, cost £700,000 from Luton last July.
