Julian Rhodes admits season ticket sales are going better than he expected.

The current tally, including juniors and under-11s, was set to pass the 5,000 mark today and means there is a good chance the 10,000 adults target he set back in February can be reached.

The joint chairman said: "I would have expected a relatively slow start and for it to build up but early signs are good.

"Tickets have been on sale for four weeks now so we are averaging 1,250 a week.

"You would like to think we will get a bigger uptake in the last couple of weeks so we are on course to go through the 10,000 mark and beyond."

Season tickets are available until July 31 at £138 for adults, £69 for juniors (children aged between 11 and 15 on August 1) and free for under-11s. Prices then double from August 1.

The club are hoping for a surge in sales when many fans get paid at the end of this month and another before the deadline expires exactly five weeks today.

"Nobody can predict what's going to happen but it is encouraging and long may it continue.

"We are practically at the level of season tickets we sold last season already."
