LIVERSEDGE picked up the momentum in their bid to beat the drop from the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a 3-1 home victory over basement outfit Nostell Miners' Welfare.
Sedge rattled in three goals inside the opening 20 minutes from Ray Fogarty and Benny Igiehon (2), already-relegated Nostell hitting back minutes after the hour mark through Brian Mdaka but it was only a consolation.
Albion Sports were at promotion hopefuls Worksop Town and took the lead when Matt Mathers fired in midway through the first half.
The home side were level at the break after Ross Henshaw netted following a 33rd-minute corner, and a late brace from substitute Matt Booth made the game safe before Albion skipper Asif Hussain netted a last-minute penalty after Alex Cusack had been brought down.
Thackley failed to score for a second consecutive game as they went down 2-0 at Armthorpe Welfare.
Following a goalless first half, the home side were gifted an opener when Damian Hopkins put through his own net, and Stuart Preston added Welfare’s second with a quarter of an hour remaining.
The sides in Division One play two games fewer, so Saturday’s was Eccleshill United’s final game of the season.
The Eagles shared the spoils with second-from-bottom Rossington Main with a 1-1 draw at the Mitton Group Stadium.
Anil Singh struck to put Eccleshill in front in the 26th minute but, seven minutes later, Jordan Hatton levelled.
