ECCLESHILL United boss Sean Regan has been pleased with his side's displays in recent weeks and is already looking forward to next season.
Regan was asked to lead the Eagles into a new era last summer after the club decided to return to its roots. He had too much work on at the time but he came on board as a coach to work closely with a new management pairing.
When Mark Greaves and his number two Hayden Lobley left back in November the role was offered to Regan again and he has been in the hot-seat ever since.
Following last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at promotion-chasing AFC Emley, Regan said: “I wasn’t happy with that result because I thought we were the better side and had played the best football but we dropped two points because of a last-minute penalty.
“Even Emley said we were unlucky not to take all three points and I think that shows how far we’ve come. We have picked up some good points and the performances have massively improved over recent weeks.
“Good players have come in. Obviously Charlie Flaherty is one and with him, Mark Trueman and Andy Cooper in midfield, we’ve got a very strong line across the middle that is capable of dominating every game. They’ve been magnificent.
“Luke Harrop has scored a hatful of goals, Adam Turner has been great and Anil Singh has settled in at the back. Marcus Harper has done the same at left back and in the centre of defence we’ve got Brett Catley, who has had trouble getting back in at centre back because of the form of the others.
“Jermaine Springer is a rock back there and the new lad Carlton Smith has made the selection process a nightmare. There is competition for places in every position and I’m very happy with that. I just need to keep them all together now.”
