Julian Rhodes could have a substantial new investor on board at City as early as next week.
The chairman refused to be drawn on speculation but has revealed a major announcement will be made shortly.
The Telegraph & Argus understands it does surround fresh financial input at Valley Parade, which will serve as another major boost for Rhodes, new boss Stuart McCall and the club as they prepare for life in League Two.
He said: "There's a big buzz around the place at the moment, especially since Stuart's appointment.
"The season-ticket launch got underway last week and that has been received very, very well.
"We've sold 600 in the first few days alone, which is great, and we're still hopeful of hitting that magical 10,000 figure.
"But it has been another important week for the club with further developments away from the football side.
"Those will be revealed soon."
Meanwhile, McCall spent his first day at Valley Parade today meeting up with Rhodes to discuss plans for the future.
"I'm really looking forward to getting to work with Stuart," he said.
"We'll be starting to help him bring in transfer targets and we've been talking about budgets and player requirements.
"Stuart will also be involved with some commercial activities and it's going to be a busy summer.
"We're hoping to able to put a smile back on the faces of our fans and there's a genuine feeling of optimism."
