Negotiations over Dean Windass's potential switch to Hull could stretch over another weekend after City refused to rubber-stamp a deal.

Hull made an improved offer for the veteran striker on Tuesday night and the player does still seem destined for the KC Stadium.

But City chairman Julian Rhodes won't be rushed into sanctioning any move as he strives to get the best possible deal for his club.

He spent ytoday locked in talks with Tigers counterpart Adam Pearson after the Championship outfit upped their bid and he will now mull over the options.

The City chairman said: "They faxed over a new offer and I met with Adam.

"We're getting closer but these things are never done until every detail is agreed.

"We're not far off but now we're just spending some time considering what's on offer."

The City striker, 38, agreed personal terms with Hull last week but the clubs have been at a standstill since over a valuation of the player.

Bradford are believed to be holding out for an incentive-based deal that could rise to £250,000 depending on appearances.

Windass has two years left on his contract at City but spent the final four months of last season on loan at Hull, firing the goals which helped save them from relegation.

Hull feel they have already forked out a substantial amount as part of the original loan fee paid in January.
