Hull have made an improved offer for Dean Windass and a deal could be concluded later today.
City chairman Julian Rhodes said: "They have faxed over a new offer and I'm due to meet with Adam Pearson (Hull chairman) at some point today.
"These things are never done until every detail is agreed but we're not far off."
The City striker, 38, agreed personal terms with Hull last week but the clubs have been at a standstill since over a valuation of the player.
Bradford are believed to be holding out for an incentive-based deal that could rise to £250,000 depending on appearances.
Windass still has two years left on his contract at Valley Parade but spent the final four months of last season on loan at Hull, firing the goals which helped save the Championship club from relegation.
