FIELD closed the gap on the Premier Division leaders to one point following a hard-fought 2-1 win at Shelley in the West Yorkshire League.
Field took the lead after ten minutes through Nick Doherty's header from a corner before Shelley grabbed an equaliser after 35 minutes.
In the final minute, Doherty went through on goal and scored at the second attempt after the Shelley goalkeeper had pulled off an initial great save.
Baildon Trinity Athletic are still in a Division One relegation place after their 1-0 loss at Whitkirk Wanderers.
In the early stages, Baildon's lone striker Lee Mathers caused the home defence problems with his strength on the ball and clever hold-up play, managing to forge himself a couple of half-chances.
But 20 minutes into the first half, the referee awarded a dubious free-kick to Whitkirk for an Elliot Moody challenge which looked to be firm but fair.
In a dangerous position just 20 yards from goal, the home midfielder stepped up and confidently floated the ball into the top corner.
With Trinity throwing everything at getting an equaliser, the home side could have seen the game out on the counter-attack but a combination of last-ditch defending and fine saves by Steve Sample prevented any further goals.
Baildon player Elliott Moody said: "We gave a tireless and organised display and felt harshly done by having not come away with at least a point."
Wyke Wanderers defeated Littletown 5-3 in the Wheatley & District Cup quarter-final.
Littletown went ahead when a misplaced header fell to the away side, who drove home from the edge of the box.
Wyke responded immediately when a fine move down the left saw Karl Fawcett equalising at the far post.
Ben Bodle then nudged Wanderers ahead, only for Littletown to equalise – but Joe Walshe put Wyke in front again just before half-time.
The first goal in the second half was going to be important and it was Wyke who struck as the hard-working Walshe got his second via a deflection.
Wanderers had further chances to increase their lead but it was the visitors who put the result in doubt with a well-taken drive from distance.
They pushed forward to try and equalise but a fine through-ball from James Stansfield put Wyke striker Ian Horrocks away and he went around the goalkeeper before firing into the empty net to finish the game.
Wyke secretary said Dave Ryan said: "There were some great performances across the whole team, with Ben Bodle outstanding."
Wyke Wanderers Reserves came away from Pool Reserves with a fine 4-3 win in Alliance Division One.
In an end-to-end first half it was Wyke who took the lead when hard work from Joe Sagar led to 16-year-old Harrison Levy scoring his first goal for the club.
Pool hit back and netted twice with a strong wind behind them. Wyke continued to battle and when Sagar was brought down in the penalty box, Carlton Reid stepped up to score from the spot.
Wyke got on top in the second half, with Sagar causing havoc down the left wing and putting them in front. Wanderers then eased further ahead when debutant Danny O'Donnell put them 4-2 up.
Pool got a late consolation but it was a good victory for the young Wyke side, with Sagar having his best game of the season.
Joseph Vickers scored the all-important goal for Field Reserves in their 1-0 victory against Cask in the West Riding County Challenge Trophy.
