'YEOVIL and Out' was the headline on Bradford City's web page this week as the FA Premier League (North) side bowed out of the FA Women's Cup with a 2-0 defeat at Super League One side Yeovil Town.
Coach Steve Winterburn had nothing but praise for his side as they pursued their giant-killing quest and pushed the home side hard.
In fact, it was the last minute – with City pushing for an equaliser – before Yeovil finally made the game safe with their second goal.
City remain focused on cup ambitions this week as they prepare to make the short trip to North East Regional League side Farsley Celtic for a County FA Women's Cup quarter-final.
Although City, the holders, had a resounding win over the West Leeds side in last year's final, Winterburn will be keen to avoid any complacency amongst his players as Farsley are riding high at the top of the Regional League's Southern Division.
Bottom club Guiseley's hopes of survival in this division took a knock when fellow strugglers Nuneaton completed a 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town and now have a two-point advantage over the Lionesses with a game in hand.
Guiseley are without a game this week, but face league leaders Preston next weekend
In the Premier League Reserve Division, Bradford City suffered yet another postponement when their game at Newcastle fell victim to the weather.
Third-placed City can take a huge step toward the title when they entertain leaders Blackburn Rovers at Rawdon Meadows tomorrow.
The City A team's title ambitions in the West Riding League First Division have been put on hold due to the weather, and last week they lost their top spot to Battyeford Belles. They could fall further behind if Battyeford win at Hebden Royd tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the City A team are also in cup action when they entertain Leeds Medics and Dentists in a League Cup tie.
In last week's League Shield tie, Premier Division Bradford Park Avenue completed a welcome 6-2 win over a depleted Hebden Royd with goals from Molly O'Neil (2), Katie Dormer, Jade Nelson, Annie Roberts and Sarah Huby.
Relegation-threatened Avenue are back in league action this week, but face a daunting task against current Premier Division leaders Hemsworth Welfare.
