IN the Yorkshire Amateur League, Drighlington thumped Ilkley Town Reserves 6-0 in round five of the WRCFA Challenge Trophy.
Drighlington controlled the first half and a Brett Thompson goal gave the hosts a 1-0 interval lead.
The second half was a joy to watch as Drig rattled in a further five goals through Shane Sowden, Thompson, Joe Lawrence, Mikey Durham and Jonny Kitchen.
This puts Drig in the quarter-finals of the WRCFA Challenge Trophy, following YAL teams St Nicholas (twice), Morley Town AFC and Bainbridge to this stage of the competition in previous campaigns.
Drighlington now travel to Huddersfield Amateur, leaders of the Second Division of the West Yorkshire League, with the contest taking place on March 5.
In round four, Slaithwaite hammered Fairbank United 5-0 and Akif Waseem admitted: “We started badly and got worse.
“Mistakes all over the park cost us in a performance that we'll want to forget quickly.”
In the Marflitt Cup quarter-final, Stanningley Old Boys beat East Ardsley Wanderers 3-1.
Stanningley took the lead but Harry Moxon levelled matters before the interval and it was not until the 80th minute that a goal in open play put them 2-1 ahead before a late penalty sealed the win.
The marksmen for Stanningley were Tom Stewart, Shane Thompson and James Allen as they look forward to a Marflitt Cup Semi-final with Farnley Sports on March 12.
In the Championship, Beeston St Anthony's beat Stanningley OB Res 2-1 with Daniel Sanderson scoring for the beaten visitors.
In Division 1, a depleted St Bedes remain eighth after being swamped 5-0 by fifth placed Dewsbury Rangers who moved up two places from seventh.
Bill Phethean, an own-goal, a Michael Thompson penalty, and goals from Jack Smith and Rob Smith gave Dewsbury a comfortable afternoon.
In Division 6, St Bedes Reserves lost 7-2 at high-flying Morley III, who made it eleven straight victories.
Bedes Reserves were walking wounded and the final score didn't reflect their effort and endeavour in which they were 2-0 down at the interval.
The goalscorers for Morley Town AFC III were: Jason Helm (30 goals in all competitions this season), Kyle Walker, Akilu Giwa 2, Richard Brown, Danny Robinson and Mark Raimond.
Antony Garner scored twice for Bedes.
