Leeds striker Richard Cresswell is attracting attention from Leicester, one of his former clubs.
The Foxes are set to appoint Martin Allen as manager and chairman Milan Mandaric is keen to have Cresswell on board.
Cresswell, 29, played eight times for Leicester in the 2000-01 season and failed to score for them.
He started his league career at York, where he netted 21 goals in 95 league appearances, and also turned out for Mansfield (on loan), Sheffield Wednesday and Preston.
Cresswell joined Leeds for £1.1million in August, 2005 but knee problems restricted him to just 41 appearances and 11 goals in league and cup.
Fellow striker Ian Moore, who has been released by United, is wanted by Huddersfield manager Andy Ritchie.
And Doncaster are keen to sign goalkeeper Neil Sullivan, who spent much of last season on loan to Rovers from Elland Road.
Kevin Nicholls, a target for Preston and Luton, David Healy, who is being courted by Fulham, and Jermaine Beckford, who could stay on at Scunthorpe after a successful loan spell, are also expected to leave.
Meanwhile, Duncan Revie will decide in the next few days whether to pursue his attempt to buy Leeds and foil other contenders including Ken Bates and Simon Morris.
Both Revie and Morris have provided proof of funds. Revie has financial backing from a source in the Middle East.
Leeds fans who like to spend part of their summer holiday following the club's pre-season European tour will get a change of scene this year.
Instead of heading to Sweden, as they have for the last few years, United will play three matches in the east of Germany, taking on Union Berlin (July 18), Dynamo Dresden (July 21) and FC Energie Cottbus (July 23).
