Steve Schumacher is set to stay in League One with Crewe.
The 23-year-old is poised to complete a move to Gresty Road after being released by City at the end of the season.
Schumacher, who played 130 games in three seasons for the Bantams, will become Crewe's second summer capture after Exeter left back Billy Jones. Rotherham's out-of-contract German midfielder Eugen Bopp has also held talks.
Schumacher is one of ten players to have left Valley Parade. His regular midfield partner Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, recovering from a knee injury, has been linked with a return to Port Vale.
