Reigning title-holders Bradford came from behind to beat Halifax/Huddersfield 19-17 at Skipton as they began their defence of the Yorkshire crown.
The hosts trailed 8-4 after the morning foursomes but hit back with seven singles victories, claiming the afternoon session 15-9.
Victory was only assured in the final match when Northcliffe's James Kelly - who was one down after 12 - eagled the par five 16th to go two up before halving the 17th.
Hollins Hall debutant Oliver Young - called up in the absence of Rob Hillas and Adam Sagar who had been playing in the Brabazon Trophy - was one of a clutch of youngsters who won in the singles.
"That shows our strength in depth," said skipper Tim Wade.
"Halifax-Huddersfield had probably their best side out. The young players have gained experience from last year and stood up to be counted. I was delighted with the win."
