Rangers boss Walter Smith, Stuart McCall's mentor, has backed him to be a success in management.
McCall won 12 trophies in Scotland, including six league titles, during his seven-year spell playing under Smith at Ibrox.
And the former Scotland international chief believes he can carry that winning spirit into his fledgling managerial career with City.
Smith told the T&A: "Stuart is a well-known and popular player here. Everyone at Ibrox, myself, the staff and the supporters, wish him the best of luck.
"If he can get the same level of commitment out of his players as he gave, he is on the road to success. I certainly hope so."
