THE summer transfer market is in full swing as the local semi-professional clubs make additions to their squads ahead of next week’s return to training.
Bradford Park Avenue have brought in the experienced Danny Schofield from neighbours FC Halifax Town, with the former Huddersfield Town, Millwall and Rotherham midfielder joining as player-coach.
Horsfall boss Martin Drury said: “We are delighted to bring Danny to the club.
“Having watched Halifax last season and seen him be a stand-out player for them in a number of games, it wasn’t something we thought we would be able to do, so we are thrilled to have Danny on board.
“He comes to us first and foremost as a player that will add that leadership on the pitch that we need in the middle of midfield but it would be naive of us not to capitalise on his wealth of experience and knowledge of the game in other ways.
“Danny has played hundreds of Football League games, along with having coaching qualifications under his belt, and having sat down and spoken to him it was obvious that he, myself and Jamie share the same beliefs on how to play the game and how to set up training.”
The news of Schofield’s capture came a day after Luke Dean made a permanent move to Avenue.
The midfielder, who began his career with Bradford City, spent the latter part of last season on loan from Conference North rivals Harrogate Town.
