THE initial disappointment of losing their Yorkshire Inter-District Union clash 22-14 against East Riding at Woodhall Hills has been tempered somewhat for Bradford captain Tim Wade.
He said: "With Sheffield losing (19-17 at Teesside) and York drawing (18-18 at Leeds), our defeat isn't as damaging as I first thought.
"We still have leaders Halifax-Huddersfield, York, Sheffield and Leeds to play, so our destiny is still very much in our own hands.
"But Sunday was just one of those things. We led 7-5 after the morning foursomes and were still ahead five matches into the afternoon singles but lost six on the bounce, including three on the last green and two on the 17th."
Wade gave a debut to 16-year-old home club member Ben Rhodes, who was called up at 3.30pm the day before, and said: "He won in the morning with Chris Foster and only lost 3&1 in the afternoon. It wasn't a bad debut."
Bradford's next match is a week on Sunday against Leeds at Keighley.
