FARSLEY and Brighouse Town face three new challenges in the coming season after the Evo-Stik First Division North line-up was announced.
Salford City and Darlington 1883 – the big hitters from the last campaign – have both gained promotion.
City were widely expected to go up after the Manchester United ‘Class of 92’ quintet of the Neville brothers Gary and Phil, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt became part owners, while former Football League outfit Darlington still have a huge fan base, meaning they had financial clout.
Farsley’s promotion rivals in the coming term will be Bamber Bridge, who finished third, Northwich Victoria, Spennymoor Town and Scarborough Athletic, the latter just missing out on the play-offs.
Posing another threat for Neil Parsley’s men and Paul Quinn’s Town will be Trafford and Witton Albion.
Both clubs will be seeking a swift return to the top tier of the Evo-Stik League following relegation.
The other newcomers will be FA Vase finalists Glossop North End, fresh from their Wembley appearance.
Glossop, Silsden’s rivals from last term, wrapped up promotion by winning the North West Counties Premier Division.
