IT is the inaugural Summer Bash this weekend and I’m really looking forward to it.
It is something special to be part of and I’ve never been to Blackpool before.
A lot of people have recommended that I should visit the resort while I’m in the UK.
I heard it’s a pretty good place, so to play rugby league there in such a high-profile event is fantastic, especially as all the games are televised.
That will make it a great event and an opportunity to showcase what the Championship is all about.
I am sure the eyes of the rugby league world will be on Blackpool this weekend so it’s a chance for teams to impress.
We go into the game against Halifax having had last weekend off but we’ve been training pretty hard in the past couple of days.
The boys were back to business this week and everyone is raring to go this evening.
I missed the last game against Halifax on Good Friday and it was a big win for the boys that night.
Watching the videos, they have some very good players and they gave Leigh a good run for their money recently.
They have been playing well for most of the season and they are a team who we have to turn up for.
We can’t just go out there and expect to win but we know that.
James Mendeika could make his debut for us this weekend following his arrival from Featherstone, where I played with him last season.
I’m really glad that we have got him because he’s a good player.
If he gets a run-out this week at the Summer Bash, then it’s a great opportunity to show what he is capable of.
Mendy is a very versatile player and can cover various positions in the backs.
That’s a big thing for us because we’ve had injuries at times this season and Mendeika can fill in for whoever is out injured.
He can play full back, wing, centre and half-back.
He played really well last year and I’m looking forward to seeing him play for us.
Mendy has trained really well this week and looked good, so hopefully we can get the result we all want this weekend.
