THE one and only FCFC are back in the football family after Farsley's request to revert to their original name was granted by the Football Association.
Farsley AFC were the club that rose following Farsley Celtic's demise after a brief stint in what was then the Conference Premier.
The reborn club have battled back up to Evo-Stik League Division One North but, more importantly, in that time have laid solid foundations, regained financial security and are now once again able to call themselves Celtic.
The club issued a statement which read: "Throughout the local community, the club have still been referred to as 'Celtic'. The name is regarded as a proud possession and we are very happy to have the name back.
"The club were forced to drop 'Celtic' from the club's name as per FA National League System rules."
Club chairman John Palmer is delighted to have the club's original name reinstated and revealed how the supporters club, junior committee, ladies committee and the club's education partners were all consulted before the application was made.
Palmer said: "We are very pleased with the decision from the FA and comes following a long process. Josh (Greaves) led our bid and he met with the FA panel to put our case forward."
Greaves, appointed the club's chief executive officer by Palmer and the rest of the board of directors, said: "It's been a long, drawn-out process and we had to make a trip to Wembley to sit in front of a panel from the FA Council.
"Certain rules apply after a club has entered administration but you can make a case to use the club's original name again after five years. This coming new season will be the sixth season and we wanted Celtic back.
"Since the reform of the club as Farsley AFC, we have continued to move forward and we find ourselves financially secure and with a great off-field situation in terms of administration and facilities.
"The club have continued to strive for promotion further up the non-League football pyramid throughout this period. It's great to be able to call the club Farsley Celtic once again when we are on such a good footing."
Farsley Celtic Football Club were the only FCFC on the football pyramid, which covers the non-League ladder, the Football League and the Premier League, and now they have claimed that unique title back.
