BRIGHOUSE Town Reserves have suffered their second cup final heartache in four days.
After losing the Halifax & District FA Challenge Cup final 2-1 to Ovenden West Riding in extra time, Town went down 4-2 against Colne Reserves in the Lancashire League Cup final at Ashton United.
Brighouse were a goal down after only five minutes but it could have been worse as a Colne penalty was saved by Harry Stead.
However, Town did fall 2-0 behind after 70 minutes – and it was 3-0 four minutes later.
Isaac Baldwin reduced the deficit when his shot squeezed past the Colne goalkeeper but, with four minutes remaining, Colne made it 4-1.
Baldwin then chipped the goalkeeper to score his second but it was too late.
Town Reserves assistant manager Barry Thomas said: "Our spirits are still high, despite the two cup final results, and we have had a great season in terms of development and attitude and have progressed a long way since the start."
