TWO divisional championships have still to be decided in the West Riding County Amateur League as the season comes to a close.
Pacesetters Golcar United were firm favourites to win the Premier Division championship until they dropped points at Lower Hopton and then at home to Huddersfield rivals Bay Athletic.
Bay, who notched victories over Steeton last Monday and Halifax Irish on Wednesday, are guaranteed to be at least runners-up.
But they will be champions if they beat Storthes Hall tomorrow and last season's champions Ovenden West Riding next Wednesday, both at Bay.
Campion, who had held onto second place since the turn of the year, will end their campaign in third place.
Tonight they face Steeton at Manningham Mills (6.15).
Gildersome Spurs Old Boys have led the way all season in Division Two but will be pushed into second by a point if fellow newcomers Honley win their final game at Salts Reserves tomorrow.
The divisional cup finals start on Monday, with Bay Athletic Reserves meeting Gildersome Spurs Old Boys in the Division Two decider at Lower Hopton (6.45) before Lepton Highlanders take on Wakefield City in the Division One final at Overthorpe on Wednesday (6.45) and Campion and Ovenden West Riding meet in the Premier Division decider tomorrow week at Storthes Hall (2.30).
Midweek results – Monday, Premier Division: Bay Athletic 4, Steeton 0. Wednesday, Premier Division: Halifax Irish 0, Bay Athletic 3. Division One: Campion Res 0, DRAM Community 3; Steeton Res 3, Wibsey 3. Division Two: Littletown Res 0, Honley 4.
