WHITE Eagles have completed a double by adding the GOALS SENIOR CUP to their Bradford Sunday Alliance League promotion.
The First Division runners-up defeated Stanningley Albion, who finished fourth in the Premier Division, 2-0 in the afternoon final at Manningham Mills.
Albion, winners of the Amateur Cup in 2009-10 and the Intermediate Cup in 2011-12, were looking to add the most important of the league's three internal cups, but were under the cosh early doors and conceded a goal to Danny Facey in the ninth minute.
It was no surprise when Curtis McMahon made it 2-0 in the 19th minute but the deficit spurred Albion into a response and they dominated the rest of the half, failing to take advantage when Eagles keeper Andy Smith dropped the ball in the 40th minute.
Albion's superiority continued in the second half but Eagles' defence held firm throughout the period, with Smith atoning for his earlier error by pushing a Greg Sargeant shot around a post when the Albion player was one-on-one.
In the morning's league action, Thornton United Reserves and Lyceum's bid for the DIVISION 2B championship went to the wire, with Thornton winning the race by the narrowest of margins.
The second string needed a six-goal swing to take the title from their rivals and started in the right mood by scoring three in the opening 15 minutes via Josh Milner (2) and Dave Wilson.
However, Lyceum looked to have one hand on the trophy when they pulled the score back to 3-2 by netting either side of the interval.
But the reserves finished strongly, Wilson completing his hat-trick and further goals being added by Deroy White, Gary Carney and Rob Hutchison.
Thornton now had their margin but arguably their real hero was Brad Asquith, who cleared off the line in added time.
The only other match in the division provided Second West with only their second victory of the season as they defeated Bradford & District FA Sunday Cup winners Queensbury 3-2.
