ALBION Sports were guaranteed to be the highest finisher of the three Bradford area clubs in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division but they just climbed into the top ten with a 3-1 home win over Staveley MW in their last game.
Levi Maturine fired them into an early lead but the visitors' Kurtis Morley cancelled that out. Two late strikes saw them to their three-point haul, with Danny Facey putting them back in front with his 31st goal of the season with less than three minutes remaining and Ferdinand Annor's last-minute strike.
Albion bagged tenth place on goal difference ahead of Pickering Town, who lost 3-1 at LIVERSEDGE. The visitors took the lead through Lewis Taylor midway through the first half but Andy Wood levelled before the break.
Sedge emulated Albion by adding a late double to earn their victory. With a little over five minutes remaining Joel Farrar put Sedge in front for the first time and Wood later bagged his brace to put the gloss on the win.
THACKLEY'S season ended with a narrow defeat at Heanor Town as the Derby-based club ran out 3-2 winners. The Dennyboys had taken the lead when Mike Garrod netted the only goal of the first half.
Heanor's Jay Cooper equalised before Kieran Debrouwer gave the home side the lead and Chris Shaw doubled it. Garrod wrapped up the scoring with his second.
ECCLESHILL UNITED'S Division One campaign limped to a disappointing conclusion with a 3-1 home defeat to Knaresborough Town, who leapfrogged the Eagles into 12th spot.
The same two clubs ended last season playing each other but, rather than a second tier mid-table clash, on that occasion they were contesting the League Cup at Valley Parade.
The only similarity was the result as Knaresborough beat Eccleshill again. Colin Heath gave them a 17th-minute lead with the only goal of the first half but Eagles' skipper Charlie Flaherty hit back to equalise.
On a day of last-gasp doubles the Eagles were also hit by a late one-two. Will Lenehan put the visitors back in front a little over three minutes from time and Hillard Serrao increased their winning margin a minute later.
