SILSDEN go into tomorrow's home North West Counties League clash with Bootle well rested – after two days without a game!
The Cobbydalers had played three Premier Division games in a five-day spell from last Saturday and it was a rollercoaster ride.
They were beaten 2-0 at AFC Liverpool and then hammered West Didsbury & Chorlton 6-1 on Monday, before slipping to a 1-0 defeat against title hopefuls and FA Vase finalists Glossop North End on Wednesday. Yet the only two goals they conceded in midweek were from the penalty spot.
Club secretary Jim Rosser reflected: "Just the three left now – tomorrow, Tuesday and next Saturday – and then I'm going to go and lie down in a darkened room for a month.
"It has been a bit hectic, to say the least. But some of the other clubs have had it as hard – the week before we played Glossop, they had played five games in seven days. It's ridiculous.
"Glossop need just one win from their last four games to win the title and have conceded only 18 goals in the league all season, so we didn't expect much from that game and our lads were tired.
"But we had energy in the performance right to the end and in the last ten minutes put them under some pressure, so I think we'll be all right for these last three games."
