BRADFORD Park Avenue face their third game in five draining days tonight when they make the short trip to Valley Parade to take on Garforth Town in the West Riding County Cup final.
Relinquishing the county’s most prestigious trophy will be Eccleshill United, and last season’s showpiece, also at the Coral Windows Stadium, will be a cautionary tale for the Conference League side.
The Eagles play their football in the lower tier of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League, just one division below Garforth, and yet they beat Avenue’s league rivals Harrogate Town 1-0.
If John Deacey’s Bradford needed any further warning, they need only check Garforth’s route to the final, as they beat Harrogate 2-0 in the semis.
The Miners also beat Silsden and last season’s NCE League Cup final winners Knaresborough Town.
Avenue knocked out Farsley and then Tadcaster Albion after two semi-final clashes. Avenue won the first game 3-2 but had to replay the tie after a County FA administrative error. They won the rematch 4-0.
Silsden are also in action for a third time since Saturday tonight when they host FA Vase finalists Glossop North End in the North West Counties Premier Division.
