CAMPION'S run of 13 consecutive victories in all competitions since early December came to an end when visitors Littletown won 3-1 to secure their West Riding County Amateur League PREMIER DIVISION status.
Omar Habeeb, with his 20th goal of the season, gave Campion the perfect start, only for Blake Maude to peg them back before the interval. Littletown grew in confidence in the second half and took the lead through Lee McKeown and, although Campion had a chance scrambled off the line, Matthew Bugg sealed it with a third goal.
While Campion held onto second place, their advantage was cut to two points as Storthes Hall won at Tyersal to move into third.
Storthes had Jacob Robertson (2), John Bullivant and Marcus Walmsley on target in a 4-2 victory over Tyersal, who replied through Dave Geddes and David Rooney in a defeat that virtually condemned the Bradford side to bottom spot.
Leaders Golcar United let a two-goal half-time advantage slip at home to last season’s champions Ovenden West Riding and had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.
Halifax Irish lost 3-1 at home to Lower Hopton and, with only one game left to play, Irish must rely on Huddersfield YMCA and Kirkburton failing to gain sufficient points to pass them to avoid relegation.
Dudley Hill Rangers saw their chances of finishing in the top two in DIVISION ONE fade when they lost 1-0 to a Billy Swartek second-half goal for Ventus Yeadon Celtic, who, with four games remaining, moved to within two points.
Campion Reserves remain rooted to the foot of the table after losing 3-2 at Thornes.
The DIVISION ONE CUP final will be between holders Wakefield City, who beat Bradford Horton Sports 3-1, and Lepton Highlanders, who had to go into extra time before succeeding 5-3 at Overthorpe Sports Club.
Gildersome Spurs Old Boys moved closer to taking the DIVISION TWO championship trophy in their first season after beating Bay Athletic Reserves 9-1, while Salts Reserves, who had taken only seven points from their first 14 games, made it four consecutive victories with a 5-2 win at Lower Hopton Reserves, with Richard Magson scoring four and Andy Howland one.
