AFTER a blank Saturday, Guiseley can make ground on the top two in the Vanarama Conference North with a win at rivals Chorley tonight.
It will be fourth against third at Victory Park as Mark Bower's Lions take on Garry Flitcroft's Magpies and the sides could not be closer as a goal difference of just one, in favour of the visitors, separates them.
Guiseley were sidelined at the weekend as they were due to play North Ferriby United but they were at Wembley in the FA Trophy final, in which they beat Conference Premier outfit Wrexham on penalties.
The prize for tonight's winner in not as significant but it would be a huge boost going into the final furlong of the season.
Victory for Guiseley would leave them six points behind second-placed AFC Fylde with a game in hand. Leaders Barrow, who were held to a goalless draw at home by Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday, are a further two points clear with six games of their season to play.
The Lions are in good form for the run-in and have been unbeaten in their last six league fixtures. Chorley have won their last three in a four-game unbeaten sequence.
The clubs' records are remarkably similar in terms of games won, drawn and lost, while the Magpies have found the net ten times more than Guiseley, although they have a much leakier defence, conceding 11 more.
