Thackley 0, Albion Sports 6
ALBION Sports outplayed their neighbours for a second time this season as they spanked Thackley with six of the best at Dennyfield.
Kulwinder Sandhu's men had scored four without reply in the reverse Northern Counties East League fixture and took the aggregate tally into double figures at the Dennyboys' own home.
It was a chastening experience for Thackley, who had crept up the Premier Division table and were immediately below their visitors before Saturday's one-sided clash.
Albion got off to the best possible start as Danny Facey raced through to slot under Thackley keeper Ed Hall in the first minute. He almost did it again minutes later but, after chipping his marker, the keeper just won the race for the ball.
The visitors had three former Thackley men in their starting line-up and, in typical derby tradition, it was one of them who grabbed the next goal. Matt Mathers picked the ball up inside the area and his low, diagonal shot beat Hall and nestled in the bottom corner.
Albion were almost as quick off the mark in the second half as they had been in the first, with Ferdinand Annur stretching their lead in the 49th minute. Annur drilled his shot in after being played into space by Alex Cusack's superb through-ball.
Cusack bagged Albion's fourth himself, netting a rasping shot off the underside of the bar after an Aran Basi shot had been blocked.
Sandhu made his first change then by bringing on Basi's younger brother Kamran.
Dennyboys boss Chris Reape responded with a triple substitution as Joe Brown, Mark Trueman and Redmond Lee replaced Rhys Jenkinson and the ineffective front pairing of Dougie Stevenson and Mike Garrod.
Yet there was no end to Thackley's punishment and, just after the hour mark, Mathers robbed a defender before curling a shot round Hall and into the inside of the side-netting.
Facey was denied when his shot on the run cannoned off the underside of bar and bounced just in front of the line – but he did claim his second when he made room for a shot and found the back of the net with an angled drive four minutes from time.
Meanwhile, LIVERSEDGE could not repeat their midweek heroics as they lost 2-0 at home to high-flying Bridlington Town.
Eddy Birch gave Town a first-half lead and Tom Fleming's second-half strike cemented their win.
It pricked Sedge's bubble after they had won 1-0 at title-chasing Shaw Lane Aquaforce last Tuesday.
There was also a return to earth for ECCLESHILL UNITED, who were beaten – but only narrowly – at leaders AFC Emley in Division One.
The Eagles took an early lead when Marcus Edwards scored a penalty but Emley turned the game with a quickfire double.
Ashley Flynn headed the home side level in the 19th minute and Max Leonard netted a free-kick three minutes later.
Emley were also awarded a late penalty but Eagles keeper Joseph De Martino kept out Paul Sykes' spot-kick.
