AFC Farsley 2, Clitheroe 0
FARSLEY had to be patient before recording a good Evo-Stik League win to boost their outside chances of breaking back into the Division One North play-off zone.
Mid-table Clitheroe made life difficult for Neil Parsley's men in the goalless first half but Aiden Savory turned the game in Farsley's favour, although the striker was not on the score sheet.
Savory was hauled down in the penalty area and Lewis Nightingale broke the deadlock from the spot, while Savory later found substitute Andy Welsh and he netted a curling shot from distance.
Farsley remain eighth but they are now through the 60-point barrier and just five points off the play-off places.
Neighbours Brighouse Town were beaten 3-1 at home after coming from a goal down to be on level terms with Lancaster City early in the second half.
Neil Marshall headed the visitors in front with the only goal of the first half.
Tom Matthews split the defence to slot in Town's equaliser but Lancaster went on the win the roses clash with two late goals.
Town keeper Jordan Porter gave a penalty away, and earned a yellow card for his troubles, in the 74th minute when he brought down Ryan Rider, who got up to send Porter the wrong way from the spot.
Jacob Davis put the gloss on the win when he converted a late free-kick with a well-placed header.
