FARSLEY'S bid for a play-off place in Evo-Stik First Division North suffered another crushing blow as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at struggling Ossett Albion.
They were stunned by an early opener as Connor Bower gave the Unicorns a 13th-minute lead, although Aiden Savory thought he had levelled the scores when he had the ball in the net but celebrations were cut short by an offside flag.
Neil Farsley’s men were hit by another body blow as Bower doubled the home side’s lead just minutes before half-time.
The deficit was finally halved but Mikey Aspin’s 77th-minute goal was all Farsley produced as they came up just short.
There was better news for Brighouse Town but they had to withstand a late comeback to beat Mossley 3-2 at the Dual Seal Stadium.
Ernest Boafo gave Town an early lead, and Isaac Baldwin added to it just before the break and again early in the second half.
Mossley’s Poyra Ahamadi scored with 25 minutes remaining, and again nine minutes from time to ensure a tense ending.
