LIVERSEDGE manager Alan Colquhoun admits a lack of goals has been a worry but he still believes there is enough quality in his squad to keep the club in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League top flight.
An alarming run of seven straight defeats saw the Clayborn outfit tumble to third from bottom in the Premier Division, overtaken by Colquhoun's old club Nostell.
With just six points now separating Sedge from the bottom-two drop zone, there are some furrowed brows at the club and Colquhoun revealed: "It's been difficult over the last four or five weeks, both results and performance-wise.
"Three or four months ago I never dreamed we would be in this position – but the buck stops here with me. I pick the team and I send the players out and we're not getting results.
"I think we need another six points, which will take us to 30 and should be enough to stay up. But we need to get them on the board and then push for more because we can't rely on the teams below us not putting a run together.
"The run-in is crucial and we've got difficult games – starting this weekend against Thackley, who are in form and looking for revenge after we went there in October and won 2-0.
"We've also got (top-five sides) Shaw Lane and Staveley to play. They are tough games but we are positive and confident we won't finish in the bottom two."
Sedge ended their run of defeats with a draw in midweek, when they hit back from 3-0 down against Athersley with just under a quarter of an hour remaining.
"We got a great point on Tuesday, so maybe we've turned the corner," said Colquhoun.
"We said to the players that if we show the attitude we did in that last 15 minutes over the next few games, we'll be all right. We've got nine games left and our fingers crossed."
