A SUPERB 3-2 home win over high-flying Chorley has further eased Bradford Park Avenue’s relegation fears.
Avenue were already four points clear of the three-team drop zone but John Deacey’s men are showing no signs of letting up.
They had their backs to the wall at times last night and had palpitations when Chorley levelled seven minutes from time but they came again and two-goal Chib Chilaka netted a late winner to see them climb the table.
Avenue were in front as early as the 13th minute when an Alex Pursehouse corner was not cleared. Chris Lever picked up the loose ball and drilled a shot past the Magpies’ keeper.
Avenue snatched a second just before the break when Chilaka pounced for his first.
The Avenue striker slotted in after the Magpies’ defence could only half clear Craig King’s driven cross into the six-yard box.
Chilaka had also scored in Chorley’s 2-1 win in the reverse fixture.
Following sustained pressure, Jack Dorney equalised but with a little over four minutes remaining, Chilaka capitalised on an error before netting a composed finish.
