Russ Simpson's birdie put East Bierley through against Cleckheaton
RUSS Simpson, playing off two, sank a birdie on the fourth hole of a sudden-death play-off against Cleckheaton's Simon Irving (3) to put East Bierley through after a 2½-2½ draw in a Mail On Sunday National Club Championship second-round tie – a five-man team matchplay knockout.
OTHER RESULT – East Bierley Ladies, Winter Stableford (short course): 1 Geraldine Berry(23) 21pts, 2 Rita Jowett (23) 20.
