PHIL Parkinson think the Premier League’s “prawn sandwich” brigade can learn from Valley Parade’s cauldron of noise.

The City boss was bowled over by the “incredible” noise generated by the biggest home crowd since 1960 – and felt it made for a refreshing throwback.

Parkinson said: “When you look at Premier League games, a lot of supporters are there in corporate hospitality and you just don’t get the atmosphere like you do here.

“I think it is a great part of it here and anyone who comes to the game who isn’t used to it, goes away saying it is a real proper old-fashioned atmosphere.

“When I walked out there, it was just incredible.

“We are enjoying these occasions and hopefully we can have a few more in years to come because it is a fantastic club.

“The supporters are right behind the team, as you saw again, and they gave us everything they could to urge that ball into the back of the net but it just didn’t happen.”

Parkinson admitted it a very different contest to City’s fifth-round win over Sunderland.

“That was a lot more open,” he added. “Reading learned from that and came up here very tight.

“People will look at it and say it was our best chance and that Reading have done the hardest part of the job. But I was very pleased by how we played.”
