BRIGHOUSE Town Reserves suffered a huge setback in their bid to be crowned the Lancashire League champions when they suffered a 2-0 home defeat against the leaders AFC Emley Reserves.
Second-placed Brighouse found themselves 2-0 down at half-time and couldn't find a way through a resolute Emley defence, with the visitors deserving their victory.
Town's reserves' assistant manager said: "We gave a very disappointing display, and our usual tempo and passing never really got going.
"Emley really worked hard and defended well but both their goals were poor defensive mistakes by us."
Eccleshill United were knocked out of the Northern Under-19 Alliance League Cup when they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Brodsworth Welfare, Brian Wolverton getting the consolation.
