MANY Bradford Sunday Alliance League teams were again left kicking their heels due to the snow and frost but six matches did get the go-ahead, including two in the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup.
Thornton United were beaten 7-4 at Belle Isle WMC in Leeds, while First Division pacesetters Oakenshaw showed their potential for 2015-16 by surprising Premier Division Sandy Lane 6-1.
Of the four league matches that took place, two were in Division 1B, with Sporting Pudsey and Saltaire Rangers climbing to seventh and eighth respectively on the back of victories.
Sporting, playing for the second straight week, were rewarded with a 4-3 victory over Aire Athletic, while Saltaire Rangers thumped Grass Greener United 8-3, with much-travelled former Bantams striker Kevin Sanasy hitting a hat-trick and Jarad Peltier bagging a brace for the home team.
In Division 2B, mid-table Eccleshill WMC gained revenge for a defeat earlier in the season against promotion-chasing Lyceum by winning 4-2.
Aaron Heywood hit two for visitors Lyceum to give them an early lead, one of them via a penalty, but Chris Lee pulled one back for the hosts before the interval with a long-range free-kick.
New signing Adam Hanson restored parity, and returning midfield dynamo Vincent Walker then gave the hosts a lead before the Graves brothers combined, with Jordan putting Alec through to round off the scoring.
In Division 3B, leaders Steel Bangle Spartans warmed up for next week’s West Riding County FA Trophy quarter-final with an emphatic victory over Clayton Village Sports & Social Reserves, hitting double figures.
The hosts gave an excellent display of attacking football and the score would have been much higher than 10-1 but for a superb display by the visiting goalkeeper.
The hosts have hit over 100 goals this season in only 11 league matches, and Robert Richmond bagged four and Gurdip Bhambra a hat-trick, which included their 100th goal.
Harjit Moore, Ryan Naylor and Mitchell Woolley also got on the scoresheet for the winners.
