BAILDON Trinity Athletic Reserves recorded a fine 3-1 win at Sherburn White Rose Reserves in Alliance Division Two of the West Yorkshire League.
The visitors started off on the back foot, with Sherburn enjoying most of the early possession without creating many chances due to Baildon's well-organised defence.
But Baildon broke after 20 minutes and Ian Firth put in a great cross for an easy shot for John O'Connell, who miskicked the ball against a defender and he put the ball into his own net.
Trinity grew in confidence and soon made it 2-0 with a fine penalty by Darren Rands after Firth was fouled. But the second half was all about Baildon defending, with Sherburn throwing everything at them and pulling a goal back.
Sherburn kept pressing, which left them open to the counter-attack, and Baildon capitalised on this when Lee Newall's long pass found Charles Dalton, who sealed the points with a great shot into the top corner.
Horbury Town Reserves, who are top of Alliance Division Two, edged out Wyke Wanderers Reserves 2-1.
The hosts scored with their first attack and added another goal against the run of play before half-time.
Wyke came more into the game in the second period and were well on top when Hoi-Pin Truong scored after an hour. But they could not break Horbury down to get the equaliser.
The League Cup tie between Field AFC and Oxenhope Recreation was postponed due to bad weather – as was the Division One game between Wyke Wanderers and Old Modernians, plus the Division Two match between Baildon Trinity Athletic and Middleton Park.
