OVERNIGHT snow robbed supporters of the chance to see an eagerly-awaited derby in the Vanarama Conference North.
Third-placed GUISELEY were due to host third-bottom BRADFORD PARK AVENUE but Nethermoor was under a blanket of snow.
The postponement did the Lions no favours, as Tamworth won again to leapfrog them in the table.
Avenue slipped to second bottom, meanwhile, after Gloucester City beat their derby rivals Worcester City 2-0 in today’s Vanarama North clash.
Both clubs were eager to get back in action, Avenue after a confidence-boosting win at Worcester City while the Lions wanted to get the previous weekend’s defeat at Tamworth out of the system.
Guiseley will not now have the chance to put that behind them on Tuesday after their scheduled home game against leaders AFC Fylde was put back. The Coasters are still in the FA Trophy and face a replay at home to Telford that night.
The disruption to football fixtures was widespread but the local area was one of the worst hit, with sides from Conference Premier outfit FC HALIFAX TOWN right down to Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One mid-table outfit ECCLESHILL UNITED having home games called off.
Halifax should have hosted Eastleigh but the pitch at the Shay was frozen under the fresh snow.
The snow was falling heavily when Eccleshill’s pitch inspection was scheduled at lunchtime so the visit of Hall Road Rangers was also postponed.
LIVERSEDGE’S Clayborn was waterlogged so Athersley Recreation's trip for the NCEL Premier Division clash was aborted, while SILSDEN’S away game was also a victim of the weather.
The Cobbydalers were due to make the short trip into Lancashire for a Roses derby at Colne but their pitch was covered in snow.
