BRADFORD Park Avenue are desperately hoping tomorrow night’s Vanarama Conference North home game against fellow strugglers Gloucester City gets the go-ahead.
Confidence in the Avenue dressing room is sky high after Sunday’s last-gasp 1-0 victory at Worcester City.
It may have been a smash-and-grab raid against the mid-table outfit but it was Bradford’s first win in over a month and it lifted them above Gloucester as the Tigers suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Gainsborough Trinity.
Avenue are still in the bottom three but they would go level on points with Leamington, who are immediately above the trapdoor, with another victory tonight.
However, that very much depends on the elements and there is a lunchtime pitch inspection planned at Horsfall Stadium.
Boss John Deacey said: “It was a fantastic win against Worcester and the players had had to work really hard for it because it was a tough afternoon. Worcester got on top at certain times but we defended well and kept changing our system to give them something to think about.
“The three points could be vital and have certainly lifted spirits. Another win tonight would put us back in the mix and we would still have games in hand on some of the other clubs fighting to stay in the division.”
Elsewhere tomorrow, Eccleshill United travel to AFC Mansfield in Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One. The home side are only two places above the Eagles but hold a nine-point advantage.
