AUSTRALIAN soccer club Yoogali, which was founded 61 years ago, are seeking players and coaches for their new season, which starts in April.

The club, which are based in Griffith, New South Wales, are in the Griffith & District Football Association and particularly want strikers and a player-manager to generate renewed interest.

"To give you an idea of our standard, we have had players from the Highland League in Scotland before, and they like our area that much that they have ended up staying and getting married," said club spokesman Tony Catanzariti.

"Our competition, which has nine teams, is growing in numbers but we thought we could add a new dimension with overseas players – not only to bolster our squad but to give our juniors a different outlook on the game.

"They would also experience the fantastic weather and way of life Down Under, and a move here could also be a stepping stone for players to be exposed to our A-League competition as we have contacts with these franchises.

"Our club has 300 junior members and five senior teams, and players who are successful and committed to such a potentially life- changing experience would be well looked after with travel expenses, employment and accommodation."

The season finishes in September, and anyone who is interested in helping Yoogali as a player or a coach can contact Tony at tony.catanzariti@bigpond.com.
