FARSLEY Celtic Juniors have set up their crunch clash with Premier Division leaders Huddersfield Amateur next Saturday at Old Earth in the Yorkshire Amateur League.
Second-placed Celtic stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches with a 4-1 home defeat of sixth-placed Alwoodley and are seven points behind Amateur with two games in hand.
Alwoodley are usually difficult to beat but Farsley managed it comfortably with goals from Tom Ormondroyd (2), recently-promoted Louis Surtees and Liam Cannan.
Cellar dwellers FC Headingley only had one draw to their name from six matches and there was no shock result at third-placed Grangefield Old Boys, who won 7-0 to go eight points behind Amateur with three games in hand.
Scorers for the old boys were Andy Kenyon (2), Kev Brown (2), Kristian Dacre, Matt Tomlinson and Ritchie Banks.
Stanningley Old Boys Reserves are up from fifth to third in the Championship after a 2-0 home win over a disappointing Old Batelians, who were one of the two teams they overtook.
Shots from John Mallinson in the 55th minute and Liam Pickard ten minutes later defeated the Batelians keeper far too easily but the latter side are only a point behind with a game in hand.
Basement boys Calverley United were only 1-0 down at half-time, having played into the wind at Rodillians, but they failed to adapt to having the elements behind them and their keeper gifted the hosts a goal in a 4-1 defeat. Nathan Thorne got the consolation.
A post-match meal of chicken curry and rice was about the most welcome thing for eighth-placed hostsGildersome Spurs in their 3-1 Division One home defeat to leaders Colton Athletic.
On a heavy pitch with a strong crosswind, which at times included hailstones, Spurs played well in the first half, James Wilby netting the only goal for the hosts. But he missed a glorious chance in the second half after rounding the keeper.
Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves drew 3-3 at Ealandians Reserves in Division Three and neither the third-placed hosts, nor the fourth-placed visitors, would look out of place in Division Two if they were promoted.
Juniors had first use of the wind and led 3-0 at half-time via Alex Gyte (2) and Josh Sanz-Carvell but Ealandians replied in kind in the second half, keepers Matty Smith (Farsley) and McCauley Richardson making some fine saves.
Bainbridge made it three straight away wins with a 4-0 triumph over ninth-placed Old Modernians Reserves to climb to sixth.
A Zeeshan Khan cross was volleyed home by Shoaib Hussain after 20 minutes but Bainbridge wasted a chance to increase their first-half lead when upended skipper Bilal Saleem missed from the spot.
An Usman Amir diving header was blocked early in the second half but Rizwan Mir followed up to make it 2-0, Fezan Akubat netted spectacularly from 45 yards and, after a late sortie, a Hussain Iqbal cross was diverted into his own net by a Mods defender.
St Bede's Thirds, bolstered by senior players as their first and second-team matches were postponed, won 5-1 at Norristhorpe Reserves in Division Six.
Goals came from Mark Hayward (2), Tom Mozley, Antony Garner and Chris Dring as Bede's went seventh, Sam Everett getting the consolation for the eighth-placed hosts.
