CLEETHORPES Town climbed to second in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division table but did not have things all their own way in a 3-1 home win over lowly Liversedge.
Sedge pushed their high-flying hosts all the way and had two goals disallowed, while Cleethorpes keeper Damien Steer picked up the man of the match award.
Brody Robertson and Marc Cooper, the home side's leading scorers, were both on target to earn the points.
Robertson slotted in the opening goal in after just three minutes. Sedge then had the ball in the net from a header following a corner in the 27th minute but it was chalked off after a foul on Steer.
There was some good defending from both sides but Sedge managed to grab an equaliser two minutes before the break as Eli Hey pounced on an attempted clearance and beat Steer.
Liversedge created some good chances in the second half but Cooper netted his 24th goal of the season in the 72nd minute and ten minutes later Robertson bagged his brace.
Stubborn Sedge refused to lie down and still created chances, with a late effort getting past Steer before being cleared off the line.
There was no joy on the road for ECCLESHILL UNITED either as they went down 2-1 at Louth Town in Division One.
Louth broke the deadlock when Craig Lill netted after a ninth-minute corner had been flicked on inside a packed area. The hosts netted from another corner soon after but their celebrations were curtailed by an offside flag.
The Eagles went in search of an equaliser and finally got one ten minutes from time when Marcus Edwards lobbed the home keeper.
But parity was short-lived and, just four minutes later, Jamie Coulson netted Louth's winner following yet another corner.
