TWO members of Bradford & District Football Association have been presented with long-service awards.
Brian Goodall was rewarded for 50 years' continuous service as a referee, while Albert Dent was honoured for 50 years' service to football.
Albert started playing football in the Bradford Half Holiday League and was also part of a group of school leavers who formed Draughton United, who were instrumental in setting up the first Sunday football league in Bradford.
He also played for Allerton Rovers in the Spen Valley League and became a referee in 1972, continuing to officiate in the middle for over 25 years.
In 1986 he joined the Bradford & District FA as assistant secretary and also became a council member of the West Riding County FA.
From 1988 to 2005 he served as secretary of the District FA, making him their longest-serving secretary.
He was elected as president in 2005 and continues in that role. Albert, 70, is also a director of the county FA and vice-chairman of their youth and representative committee.
Brian, who is 73, took his referee's exam in 1964 and continues to be the man in the middle in the Bradford Sunday Alliance League.
West Riding County FA chairman Barry Chaplin presented the awards at a Bradford & District FA Council meeting at Field Sports & Social Club, and congratulated both on their achievements.
He also presented their respective wives, Carol Dent and Pat Goodall, with flowers as he thanked them for the support they give their husbands in their football work.
